Application Scenarios by Industry
Medical & Implant Manufacturing
Recommended grades: GR2, GR5, GR23 (ELI)
For implantable devices, biocompatibility and fatigue strength are the primary criteria. GR23 (Ti-6Al-4V ELI) is the preferred choice for load-bearing implants due to its ultra-low interstitial content and superior fracture toughness. GR5 is widely used for instrument components and non-implantable surgical tools.
Supplied to: ASTM F136, ISO 5832-3, ISO 5832-11. Mill test certificates (EN 10204 3.1) available.
Aerospace & Defense
Recommended grades: GR5 (Ti-6Al-4V), Ti6246
Aerospace applications prioritize strength-to-weight ratio and high-temperature performance. Ti-6Al-4V (AMS 4967) covers most structural and fastener applications; Ti6246 (AMS 4981) is specified where operating temperatures exceed 400°C.
Chemical Processing & Industrial
Recommended grades: GR1, GR2
CP titanium grades 1 and 2 offer excellent resistance to oxidizing acids, chlorides, and seawater — without the cost of alloy grades. GR1 provides the best formability for fabricated components; GR2 offers a balance of corrosion resistance and strength for pressure equipment.
Marine Engineering
Recommended grades: GR2, GR5
Both grades offer strong seawater corrosion resistance. GR2 is preferred for non-structural, corrosion-critical components; GR5 is chosen where structural loading demands higher tensile strength.
